The opportunity:
An exciting opportunity exists in our Finance department within the Corporate division for a Senior Accountant, Corporate Accounting located in Toronto, Ontario. This position prepares the Corporate office’s journal entries, manages accounts payable and prepares Corporate’s financial statements, including its balance sheet, income statement and statement of cash flows.  In addition, this position is accountable for monthly account reconciliations, including intercompany reconciliations with other business units, and supports the resolution of system issues and user requirements.

In this role, you will be accountable for:
  • Preparing and reviewing journal entries in accordance with the Delegation of Authority (DAG) guidelines, including cash journal entries.
  • Ensuring the completeness of month-end reconciliations for general ledger accounts, including intercompany reconciliations.
  • Tracking and analyzing monthly expenditure accruals and reversals by cost center.
  • Preparing bank reconciliations.
  • Providing requested information and responding to queries from internal stakeholders, as well as external and internal auditors during quarter-end and year-end in a timely manner.
  • Collaborating with IT to resolve system issues and user requirements related to the Concur travel system, automated accounts payable bot, ERP, and consolidation system.
Skills and attributes for success:
  • University or college certificate in accounting, with an active pursuit or completion of an accounting designation (e.g., CGA, CMA).
  • A minimum of 5-years of experience in corporate accounting, accounts payable, and intercompany reconciliation within a multi-entity, multi-currency environment.
  • Strong understanding of accounting and financial reporting principles.
  • In-depth knowledge of accounting and IFRS reporting standards.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet competing deadlines.
  • Strong relationship management abilities.
  • Advanced analytical skills, capable of providing detailed variance analysis.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, ERP systems, and consolidation systems.
  • Experience with bot automation software for accounts payable processing is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Power Automate, InforLN ERP system, and/or Longview consolidation system is an asset.
