The opportunity
An exciting opportunity exists in our Finance department within the Metals division for a General Accountant located in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta. The purpose of this position is to record day-to-day transactional accounting activities and support the division in achieving their financial targets and strategic objectives.
This position is eligible for flexible working arrangements to support a balance between time in the office and remote work. We recognize the importance of flexibility in today’s dynamic work environment. We offer adaptable flexibility to ensure that our team members can succeed while balancing personal commitments.

The opportunity

In this role, you will be accountable for:
- Managing and executing site treasury activities, including bank reconciliations, cash receipts, signatory administration, and coordination with Corporate Treasury.
- Performing month‑end close activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, and intercompany balance confirmation.
- Processing and reconciling intercompany receivables and payables, including periodic transfers.
- Ensuring compliance with GST filings, corporate tax instalments, and other regulatory or statutory requirements.
- Overseeing accounts receivable, including monitoring aging and following up on overdue balances.
- Supporting payment processing, including EFT, wire, and cheque payments, and clearing transactions in the ERP.
- Processing payroll adjustments and related reconciliations in coordination with HR and payroll teams.
- Coordinating and supporting travel and expense reporting and insurance allocation processes for the site.
- Providing backup support across general accounting functions as required.
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives, internal controls, and accounting system enhancements to strengthen the site’s control environment.
- College Diploma in Business or Accounting.
- 5+ years of relevant work experience in the manufacturing industry is preferred.
- Understanding of current accounting best practices and standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to adapt to new technologies and tools that create efficiency and accelerated change.
- Excellent communication, writing and presentation skills.
