The opportunity

An exciting opportunity exists in our Capital Projects team within our Oil, Gas & Power division. The Health, Safety and Environmental Advisor is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing all health, safety, and environmental programs across all our projects. They will also ensure compliance and continuous improvement of the HSEQ goals and objectives.

This role is based in Moa, Cuba on a rotational schedule of 4 weeks on and 2 weeks off: 12 hours per day, 6 days per week.

In this role, you will be accountable for:

  • Providing expert HSEQ advice to project teams, ensuring compliance with client, regulatory, and corporate standards.
  • Monitoring and reporting HSEQ performance metrics and KPIs to senior leadership, ensuring thorough reporting of incidents and accidents.
  • Developing and managing safety management systems, including hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies.
  • Creating and maintaining standard operating procedures, safe work practices, and safety-related documentation.
  • Fostering a positive safety culture and promoting a culture of safety excellence.
  • Collaborating with subcontractors to align their HSEQ programs with company and client requirements.
  • Leading incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective actions in partnership with site supervisors.
  • Conducting training, orientations, and safety seminars for employees and external customers.

Skills and attributes for success:

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health and safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Certificate or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP) designation or equivalent certification required.
  • Proven experience as a Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) professional within the energy, industrial construction, or environmental sectors.
  • Certifications or designations such as NCSO, CRSP, GSC-CSC, CSO, or equivalent are preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of HSE legislation and regulatory requirements across Canada.
  • Proficient in the use of incident reporting tools and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish is preferred.
